STUCK.

The festive season is here and me being the late shopper, no wait i hate to shop!!!!! which is why i am now in a rush to find and buy a gift for a new friend. Dilema is i dont know the friend well enough to go out any buy something that am sure will be liked or is in tune with their taste ** i have never liked to buy a gift that will collect dust or get buried by the dog****.

Here i am asking for help please help is needed urgently especialy from all of you, At the moment am stuck between getting a book,an mp3 player and an Xbox(the only reason its on the list is coz i want to buy it and keep it for myself). As you can see i have me stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Gift cards are kind of impersonal, but the safest option. If the friend shows an interest in electronics or clothes, get a gift card for a store nearby.

Thanks alot, problem is i have been asked by the recipeint***since when do you get to ask for a suprise when recieving a gift? am dumbfounded*** and a gift card as safe as it is will not be a suprise, but come to think of it, the look on my friend's face when i say suprise and produce a card will be priceless.

a book,id only you are sure that they would read it.
an mp3 player this ia would reccomend since i think everybody loves some music so that would allow them to enjoy their music anywhere anytime.
an Xbox(the only reason its on the list is coz i want to buy it and keep it for myself).Good enough reason so go ahead trat yourself.

Haitus Granted!!

I could be wrong, but this sounds like one of those annoying "let's see how well you know me" tests. How badly do you want to "pass" the test :-) ?

i would go with the mp3 player. Easy one that!

(((gish)))) good to see you back. An mp3 player sounds like a good idea. I shall ponder on that.

@msihkaji sasa dear the you know what is still on its way, pole for the many postponments, you think i aint stuck?

@Bantu yeah utility is good but i have a wide range that i would choose from if it were for me, i was so so on getting a book too.

@ Erick you hit the nail on the head!!!! speaking from experience? I sooo want to pass the test so bad i can even taste it kwanza with flying colours let me add.lol

@Aegues seems like an pm3 player is every ones fave.

I must be the odd ball out, since my mp3 player would end in one of two places, in a hidden corner gathering dust, or on my table all torn apart in my quest to figure out what makes it tick.

For your friend, I am with Bantutu. Utility is the way I'd go.

If it's a dude, get him a a Pen or a fancy pocket knife if it's a chick get her lingerie.......lol ok that was what i'd get her. Get her a make up kit or someting girly like that.

Yes, I'm speaking from experience. If the friend is hard to please, don't even stress yourself, just get your best guess and enclose a receipt for return purposes :-) . I just told her she is hard to please after failing the test, but we're still together :-) .

First i am not going to be helpful - i am also stuck. I have even considered buying a potted plant but i fear for the plant.

Go with the mp3 player.

@egm: Wa, er...i need to return your Christmas gift - can we give this year a miss?

@Egm thats what i almost did with an Ipod, Utility will be a good idea but i risk being told thats its a very safe option and teh cheap sneeky way out.

@Prousette welcome to my tinsy cave, mp3 is everyone's fave it seems.

@Hey Pen ehe girly huh you want me to get the nyaunyo(sp)but in the spirit of holiday forgiveness i shall let that pass ;).

@Erick pole for that, i dont want to loose this since the friend in question seems to think they know me pretty well to know what to get me with out asking me what i want.

@Ichiena i see we are the same, i always stress its not miserliness but love of all gifts that i buy that makes me feel that they should be appreciated and adored.

I think a gift certificate is the best way to go if you don't really know the person well!!

Don_quixote said...

@Princess i was asked to suprise, i have been thinking of getting my picture framed and handing it and saying suprise!!!!!!

I could swear i had blooged here juzi.
U can get an iPod or if u know the dress style, get a deadly tshirt.

IMHO, gift-giving is about having fun buying the gift and being appreciated for the thought. If that is missing, then it's not worth it. That's why I've never really liked how Christmas has become commercialized. It used to be fun!!

Don_quixote said...

@Unyc Ipod would definately be nice, but my like for gadgets might get me getting the 80gb one and taking it home for myself.

@Erick yeah thats the sad bit, am even sadder coz i hate to shop, i have some stuff that i acn easily say am an expert when it comes to picking them but shopping is just a strain to my simple mind with all the variety kwanza eish i get confused
